Manchester United Football Club is one of the most popular world clubs with over 50 million supporters worldwide. On 13 May 2005 the controlling interest of Manchester United was bought by American businessman Malcolm Glazer. Three days later his share grew to 75% and the club was once again announced private.

After claiming back the Premier League title in the Manchester Derby, the club is planning a trip to the Far East, scheduled on July 2007. It will interfere with the planned AFC Asian Cup, because Asian Football Confederation fears that the event will draw attention from their spectacular tournament.
